About Phil Segraves:

Phil Segraves is a proven conservative leader with a 25-year record of delivering results for northwest Alabama. As a five-term Mayor of Guin, successful businessman, and statewide municipal leader, Phil has focused on one mission: growing good-paying jobs, expanding opportunity, and keeping rural Alabama strong.

Delivering Economic Growth & Jobs

Phil spearheaded the transformation of the I-22 corridor in Marion County, extending Guin’s city limits 6.5 miles to the interstate and bringing water, sewer, natural gas, electricity, and broadband to previously undeveloped land. These public-private partnerships turned raw acreage into Alabama’s first Advantage Site industrial park and attracted millions in private investment, including:

  • A full-service 101-room Holiday Inn at Exit 26 – creating 54 permanent jobs

  • The first Tesla Supercharger station on I-22 in Alabama (12 Tesla stations + 4 additional independent chargers)

  • Thousands of travelers now stop in Guin to eat, stay, and charge, pumping new dollars into local businesses

Under Phil’s leadership, the Holiday Inn Guin became the only property in the United States to earn IHG’s prestigious national award for outstanding performance, guest satisfaction, and cleanliness.During his tenure as mayor, Phil secured more than $10 million in competitive grants to:

  • Remove abandoned factories through Brownfield cleanup

  • Build 3.5 miles of new sidewalks, streetscape enhancements, and decorative lighting downtown

  • Create a 22-acre city park with walking trails, lighted sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, an Olympic-size pool, and a 328-foot water slide

  • Construct the nation’s first combined senior center and FEMA safe room (Collins Life Center)

Conservative Leadership at Every Level

Phil has always stood for low taxes, limited government, and rural Alabama values.

  • Elected Guin City Councilman (1996–2000)

  • Elected Mayor of Guin (2000–2016, five terms)

  • President, Alabama League of Municipalities (2016) – the only Marion County official ever elected to lead the 464-member organization in its 90-year history

  • Chairman (4×) & 21-year Board Member, Northwest Alabama Gas District

  • Chairman (3×), Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments (NACOLG)

  • President, Municipal Workers Compensation Fund Board

  • President (2 years), North Alabama Mayors Association

  • Current member, Alabama League of Municipalities Executive Board and Committee on State & Federal Legislation

A Record of Keeping Promises

Phil Segraves has never wavered from conservative principles: low taxes, strong schools (K-12, two-year colleges, and technical training), safe communities, and putting northwest Alabama families first.

Now Phil is running for the Alabama House of Representatives – District 17 (Marion, Lamar, and part of Winston Counties) to take that same proven, results-driven leadership to Montgomery.

“I will fight every day for rural economic development, fully funded schools, and keeping more money in your pocket by holding the line on taxes.”
